I've been mentoring now for about a month now and things are really going well with us. I think my mentee and I are becoming more comfortable with each other and discovering our common interests which actually are quite a few. We have been reading this book together called called Mentor: The Kid & the CEO. See?
Anyways, it's really helpful because it's sharing one person's experience of having a mentor and how his mentor impacted and helped shape his life. Really inspiring.
We're already making plans for after she is released from her program and how we will meet each other's families and go to our favorite hangout spots. I'm excited about this relationship and we both want it to last well beyond the 1-year requirement. We really want to become good friends.
If anyone in the Houston/Humble area is interested in becoming a mentor, they do need more mentors for these ladies... let me know if you're interested!
